Getting to Port Jefferson

Whether you're crossing the Sound, coming from the city, or heading in from the Hamptons, Port Jefferson is easier to reach than you think. Our charming waterfront village is a year-round destination — and all roads (and ferries!) lead to Port Jeff.

Coming from the West (NYC, Nassau County)

  • Take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) eastbound.

  • Exit at Exit 64 (Route 112 North) and follow Route 112 all the way to the village.

  • Or exit at Exit 62 (Nicolls Road/CR-97) and head north until it ends at Route 25A, then head east to Port Jefferson.

Drive time from NYC: approx. 1 hour 15 mins (off-peak)

Coming from the East (Hamptons, Riverhead, South Fork)

  • Head west on Route 25 or Route 25A.

  • Once in the Mount Sinai or Miller Place area, follow signs west toward Port Jefferson Village.

  • Alternate route: Take William Floyd Parkway (Route 46) north, then west on Route 25A.

Drive time from Riverhead: approx. 45 minutes

Coming by Ferry (from Connecticut)

  • The Bridgeport-Port Jefferson Ferry is a scenic and stress-free way to cross Long Island Sound.

  • Ferries run year-round and carry both passengers and vehicles.

  • The terminal lets you off right in the heart of the village, within walking distance to shopping, dining, and events.

Ferry ride: approx. 75 minutes from Bridgeport

Coming by LIRR (Long Island Rail Road)

  • Take the Port Jefferson Branch of the LIRR from Penn Station, Grand Central, or Atlantic Terminal.

  • Trains run regularly, with increased service during summer and weekends.

  • The Port Jefferson Station is about a mile from the village center — take a quick Uber/Lyft, or enjoy the walk on a nice day.
